Overview
The subject of each conference is chosen by the Course Director utilizing the ABTS Cardiothoracic Surgical Curriculum. The content within the Cardiothoracic Surgical Curriculum is an all-inclusive library that spans a wealth of exceptional content covering the realm of Cardiothoracic Surgery. There are four main categories of knowledge to be reviewed: core surgical foundation, cardiovascular surgery, thoracic surgery and congenital diseases. Each category subdivided into three groups: knowledge, patient management/clinical skills and technical skill. The Cardiothoracic Surgery Curriculum represents the requisite knowledge expected at the completion of an ACGME - accredited Cardiothoracic Surgery training program. Thus, enabling the individual to obtain the skill and knowledge to practice medicine in their specific field of Cardiothoracic Surgery.

Accreditation
In support of improving patient care, The UAB Marnix E. Heersink School of Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
