Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Learners will be able to explain how clinical challenges such as communication gaps, care discontinuity, and systemic inefficiencies inspire physicians like Dr. Shah to develop innovations that can improve outcomes for thousands or millions of patients.
  2. Learners will understand practical methods for integrating innovation work into a demanding medical career, including compartmentalizing time, gathering 360 degree feedback, assembling a multidisciplinary team, and leveraging institutional resources.
  3. Learners will be able to outline the steps involved in developing, validating, and commercializing an idea within a university system, including navigating intellectual property considerations, leveraging research data, collaborating with technology and management experts, and securing early funding.
