Overview
The 5th Annual Autism Spectrum Conference, convened on April 18, 2026, serves as a clinical forum for the review of contemporary management strategies and comorbid complexities within the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) population. The symposium initiates with a didactic on cyber-safety and digital vulnerability in neurodivergent patients, transitioning into an analysis of behavioral dysregulation, specifically the clinical differentiation and intervention of meltdowns and tantrums. The curriculum further addresses the longitudinal security of patients through Special Needs Planning and the navigation of governmental benefit frameworks, alongside a presentation on community-based vocational integration initiatives. Clinical focus is also directed toward the pathophysiology and pharmacologicaltherapeutic management of anxietya prevalent comorbidity in ASDand concludes with an interdisciplinary panel session designed to synthesize evidence-based resources and collaborative care models for optimizing patient and caregiver outcomes.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Differentiate between sensorybased meltdowns and behavioral tantrums to implement appropriate clinical interventions and deescalation techniques.
  2. Evaluate comorbid anxiety within the ASD population using evidencebased assessment tools and discuss tailored pharmacological and nonpharmacological management strategies.
  3. Advise families on digital safety by identifying specific online risks (cyberbullying, grooming) and providing resources for monitoring and safe technology use.
  4. Counsel caregivers on longterm security by explaining the clinical necessity of Special Needs Planning and the preservation of government benefits for adult transitions.
  5. Integrate caregiver support strategies into standard office visits to reduce family stress and improve patient adherence to treatment plans.
